Der letzte Mann

“An expressionistic masterpiece.”

“A black-and-white classic.”

“Visually progressive and a milestone in the history of silent film.”

When Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau made 'Der letzte Mann' (known in English as 'The Last Laugh') in 1924, he could not have known that his film would still be crowned with superlatives in 2017! Or that the story, about a doorman who loses his job, would lose nothing of its relevance in today’s Europe in crisis. The Brussels Philharmonic gives a live performance with a new soundtrack to this crazy, marvellous black-and-white world.
