Grieg, Prokofiev, Stravinsky
The first recording of a piano concerto was made almost 100 years ago. The honour fell to the Norwegian Edvard Grieg – and the work chosen for the occasion has enjoyed enduring popularity.
Stéphane Denève’s affinity for Russian ballet has already been amply demonstrated. His performances of the ballet suites of Prokofiev and Stravinsky have been met with praise, admiration and the occasional lyrical tear in the United States, among other places.
