Leonard Bernstein: 100 years of magic
Leonard Bernstein was one of the most talented, versatile and successful musicians in American history. From conducting to composing to teaching, Bernstein and his music continue to speak to our imaginations a century after his birth.
The Brussels Philharmonic and the Flemish Radio Choir will pay tribute to the maestro with both great classics and less well-known jewels. In the Chichester Psalms, Bernstein reconciles the vibrant world of Broadway with religion. The comic operetta Candide was very close to Bernstein’s heart, with almost every genre from the history of Western music represented.
But it is thanks to the swinging and captivating music from West Side Story that Bernstein has come to be engraved in our collective memory.
