As stagehand you will work within the production team, and help ensure the efficient daily operation of the orchestra and choir in terms of logistics and technology.

The permanent workplace of the orchestra and choir is Flagey (Ixelles). In addition, both ensembles travel to venues in Brussels and Flanders, concert halls in neighbouring countries and go on intercontinental tours. In all these places, as stagehand you are the indispensable link for the logistics and technical aspect.

Without you, there is no music! You are responsible for the LOGISTIC PART of our organisation, including:

> the correct arrangement of the concert stages;
> set-up and dismantling, changes to the arrangements;
> loading, unloading and monitoring transportation of the instruments;
> distributing, storing, checking and transporting the scores from the music library

practical skills

You are punctual, organised and handy, providing GENERAL TECHNICAL SUPPORT to the organisation, such as:

> inventory and maintenance of the orchestra's instruments;
> the inspection and daily maintenance of the warehouse and the rehearsal venues;
> small tasks and repairs in the offices;
> driver assignments

team player

You are a TEAM PLAYER and always present during rehearsals, recordings and concerts. You help ensure that music can be made in optimal conditions by, among other things:

> supervising and supporting soloists and conductors at rehearsals and concerts;
> coordinating the catering
> organisational and logistical support for auditions for choir and orchestra

  • You’re not afraid of hard work, and can quickly spot (and anticipate), assess and solve problems;

  • The physical aspect of the job is not a deterrent and you have good practical skills;

  • You are a team player who can work independently and are punctual in the performance of your tasks;

  • You are flexible in terms of working hours and working arrangements (working weekends, early morning/late evening), and are willing to travel for international concerts and tours;

  • You have a good written and speaking knowledge of Dutch, French and English;

  • You are in possession of a driving licence (category B) and preferably have your own car;

  • You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role (relevant experience from a production environment such as film, events sector, theatre).
