Maarten Beirens brings new music to life for new audiences. As professor of historical musicology at the University of Amsterdam and general director of Festival 20·21 in Leuven, he shares his deep knowledge and passion for today’s music. A graduate of KU Leuven, where he earned a PhD on European minimal music, he also writes as a music critic for De Standaard and other media.
