Applications are now open for composers age 35 and younger - enter now the Young Composers' Forum. Deadline: April 10, 2019.
Young composers are often faced with the same problem when writing for a symphony orchestra: the orchestra itself, a strong, costly "instrument" that is not readily available. The commissions are generally awarded to experienced and well known composers. Without orchestral experience, the knowledge necessary to acquire the basic writing techniques for a large orchestra cannot be developed. It is a vicious circle.
The Young Composers' Forum sets out to allow young composers to develop their knowledge as well as their familiarity with the symphony orchestra and the chamber music forms.
In 2019, new reading sessions for young composers are organised in collaboration with Brussels Philharmonic and ensemble Musiques Nouvelles. Composers of 35 years and younger of all nationalities are invited to apply for one or both sessions submitting works. The application deadline is April 10, 2019.
Applications must be submitted exclusively online via the ULYSSES Platform, where you can also find the application requirements.
