a boundary-pushing festival for new and experimental music
On 19 and 20 June, Tectonics takes over Flagey. The international festival for new and experimental music, launched by Ilan Volkov, arrives in Brussels for the first time.
Together with Ictus, the Brussels Philharmonic presents two days of concerts, performances, and installations. Expect a mix of large-scale works and intimate sets, with Brussels Philharmonic, Ictus and Vlaams Radiokoor, and artists including Farida Amadou & Heather Leigh, Jennifer Torrence, Tarek Halaby, and Hoda Siahtiri & Shaahin Peymani.
The programme features music by Frederic Rzewski, Øyvind Torvund, Iannis Xenakis and Giacinto Scelsi, alongside new works by Maya Verlaak and Cassandra Miller, written for the Brussels Philharmonic—plus much more, from improvisation to unexpected sonic experiments.
Throughout the building, there’s more to discover, with installations and exhibitions by David Dubois, Alice Van Biesen, Livia Slegers, Baudouin Oosterlynck, and Fabio Machiavelli.
