Youth Orchestra Flanders is a new symphonic youth orchestra founded in 2018 under the auspices of the Brussels Philharmonic, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, three top cultural institutions. With support from the government of Flanders, Youth Orchestra Flanders is lending a jump start in the professional orchestra circuit to the upcoming generation of young talent (15-26 years).
After a remarkable debut concert in February 2019, Youth Orchestra Flanders will be working during the Summer Schools at deSingel on a second project under the
baton of Stéphane Denève. For this summer project, Stéphane Denève - music director of Brussels Philharmonic - will take the young generation under his wing. The programme combines a world premiere of a brand new work by Jeroen D'hoe with great classics, and brings together the young musicians with a star soloist from Belgium as Camille Thomas will perform the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Youth Orchestra Flanders.
