Youth Orchestra Flanders is a new symphonic youth orchestra founded in 2018. After a remarkable debut concert in February 2019, Youth Orchestra Flanders will be working during the Summer schools at deSingel on a second project under the baton of Stéphane Denève.

Youth Orchestra Flanders is a new symphonic youth orchestra founded in 2018 under the auspices of the Brussels Philharmonic, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, three top cultural institutions. With support from the government of Flanders, Youth Orchestra Flanders is lending a jump start in the professional orchestra circuit to the upcoming generation of young talent (15-26 years).

After a remarkable debut concert in February 2019, Youth Orchestra Flanders will be working during the Summer Schools at deSingel on a second project under the
baton of Stéphane Denève. For this summer project, Stéphane Denève - music director of Brussels Philharmonic - will take the young generation under his wing. The programme combines a world premiere of a brand new work by Jeroen D'hoe with great classics, and brings together the young musicians with a star soloist from Belgium as Camille Thomas will perform the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Youth Orchestra Flanders.

Nothing is more rewarding for an experienced musician than nurturing the next generation! In collaboration with the master musicians of the Brussels Philharmonic and the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, and with the prestigious soloist Camille Thomas, we will explore in depth not only masterpieces of the repertoire, but also music of the 21st century. It is a delight to have a World Premiere by Jeroen D’hoe on the program, specially written for the occasion. With this outstanding initiative, supported by the Flemish government, the symphonic future of the region feels bright and promising!
